Fringes and tassels are back and this time more luxurious than ever

Franjes zijn terug van weggeweest en dit keer luxer dan ooit

What you keep, you'll have. This applies not only to fashion items, but also to trends. Fringes, or tassels, as the fashion world affectionately calls them, are back. And not just a little bit. They're once again making their way into the fashion world, from catwalks to street style, from bags to jewelry.

This comeback feels extra special to me. About ten years ago, I ran my bag label, "Marrakech Musthaves," which often featured fringe. Bags with long, flowing strands. Handmade, bohemian, and beloved. Women literally adored them. Back then, fringe symbolized freedom, travel, and a sense of effortless luxury.

And now? Now they're back. But with a new load.

From boho to boho chic

While fringe used to be associated with hippie vibes and festivals (oh yeah, match your Donna Dorée jewelry with these looks too!) , we're now seeing it in a more refined context. Fashion houses like Bottega Veneta, Giorgio Armani, and Gucci are showing that fringe has come of age. Subtle, elegant, and strategically applied.

Marie Claire says: 'the fringe trend is everywhere'. From scarves to coats, from bags to dresses. The trend has already been fully embraced in street style images from Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. The Scandinavian it-girls prove that fringe doesn't have to be flashy, but rather powerful in movement.

FashionChick connects the trend to the cowgirl aesthetic and the revival of boho icons. Think flared jeans, Western boots, and fringed jackets, worn by style icons like Bella Hadid and Sienna Miller. Western, yes. But with a modern twist.

Fringes as heritage and statement

Vogue focuses on the fringed bag, reminding us that this form of decoration has existed for centuries. In the Western world as functional leatherwork, in the 1960s and 1970s as a symbol of freedom and self-expression. Fringes tell a story. They move with the body. They live.
They made a strong comeback during the spring/summer 2026 collections in Milan, from a white leather clutch with long fringes to satin shoulder bags with subtle movement.

With some brands it was so pronounced that the bag almost became a piece of jewelry.
And that is exactly where Donna Dorée makes the difference.

Fringes (or tassels) translated into jewelry in our Rhea earrings

Trends only become interesting when you embrace them. Don't follow them, refine them.
Our Rhea earrings are the perfect example of this. An ode to the feminine form; a stylized female body with skirts that end in delicate fringes. Moving, elegant, and powerful all at once.

Rhea is not boho as you know it, but Boho Chic, in the Donna Dorée style.
Rhea isn't a trend piece you wear for one season. It's a statement piece that elevates your look, whether you're wearing a minimalist outfit or going all out. The fringes add movement, the shape adds strength, and together they create something unique and luxurious.

Why fringes and/or tassels remain

What makes this comeback so strong is that fringe is more than just decoration. It conveys emotion. Movement. Story. In a time when we're increasingly consciously choosing items with character and meaning, fringe is a perfect fit.

JAN Magazine might have called it a "debatable trend," but that's precisely what makes it interesting. Fringes are playful, a bit rebellious, and yet surprisingly chic, when worn right. And that's precisely what Donna Dorée stands for.

Boho is back. Chic is here to stay.

Whether you wear them on your bag, jacket, or as jewelry, fringe is back. But this time, it's not fleeting. It's grown up. More layered. More elegant.
And at Donna Dorée, we don't make it boho. We make it boho chic .
